Valerian Road - Stage 1 - First Section

Pilzone- Tassano

Italy - Lombardy - Brescia

The Antica Strada Valeriana begins right from this stretch.

A scenic route to discover the wonders of Lake d’Iseo among panoramas, villages and groves.

How to arrive

The parking area does not offer many parking spaces, but having a little luck you can park in “Via Fenice 6, Pilzone” (click here for the coordinates) where there is a public parking.
Alternatively you can find a seat nearby. In doing so, remember that the starting point of the route will be the Pilzone square which is located in front of the parking lot that I indicated above.

The way

The route starts from the Pilzone square and goes step by step through the alleys and houses of the village. The first section is mainly asphalt and slightly uphill.
As you enter the street, you will leave behind the noise of cars and the street.

From this point on you are literally immersing yourself in the Ancien Valerian Road!

Via Valeriana Pulzano Percorso

After just over 1 km the road leaves the asphalt to meet a well-maintained concrete path. All this stretch is accompanied by a fence and benches that are found from time to time and where it is possible to stop for a moment.

My advice is to take advantage of one of these benches not only to rest, but also to take some photos of the panorama that in this section is truly wonderful!

After this short pause, the surprises may not be over yet. If you are lucky it is possible to spot some foxes crossing the trail.

Via Valeriana Gazzane

At the end of the stretch immersed in the woods, the last stretch of road awaits you as far as Tassano, which returns to being on the asphalt.

You will have to travel about 2 km on a stretch of road. The road is not very busy, but I recommend that you always be careful and walk in single file.

Info & Advice

Drinking water fountains are available all along the route. Take the opportunity to cool off and refill your bottle.

Right in the first piece you will see the signs leading to the big bench of Pilzone.
Before going into the real Valerian road, I suggest you take this little detour. I leave you the link to the article here.
