How to arrive

The route officially starts from the path after the village of Montalto Dora, but since there is no parking at this point, I suggest you go to the free car park I indicate below “Parking near the church of Sant’Eusebio – Montalto Dora” (click here for the coordinates).

The way

Starting from the church of Sant’Eusebio, you will be in the centre of the small town of Montalto Dora in no time.
This area is crossed by several paths, in fact, the ‘In search of the Rabbit Lake’ path and the long, but famous ‘Via Francigena’ also start from the centre of Montalto Dora.

As soon as you pass the village you will be faced with a nice but short uphill stretch.

When you reach the Chapel of the Holy Cross, keep to the left to continue the route. There is also a drinking water fountain here to refresh you.

Soon the route becomes a path with very gentle slopes. Keep going until you reach the point indicated by the photo on the side where you will have to take a left. Be very careful because if you miss this fork you will find yourself going around the lake without ever finding the bench. 😰

At the fork you will see a steep but short descent that will take you right to the shores of Lake Pistono. From here you can admire the castle of Montalto Dora and on your right the big bench with your back to it.

When you get to the lake, take an immediate right to head towards a somewhat hidden and little-trodden path that will lead you directly to the giant bench.

As promised, here you will find a small oasis of absolute tranquillity that will allow you to recover all your energy after the journey you have just made.
