How to arrive

To start the route you can conveniently park in the parking area dedicated to the Monet gardens (click here for the coordinates). In fact, there are many other car parks in the vicinity but this is the largest one where you will definitely find space.

The way

The route is structured as a loop with departure/arrival at the enchanting Monet gardens.

Walking through these streets you will immediately feel the magical and artistic atmosphere that pervades every corner of Giverny. On the other hand, this very area and Vernon’s mill itself were a source of great inspiration for Monet.

On the way, you will pass through the central street of Giverny, passing several quaint little houses and, in particular, Monet’s tomb. It is worth stopping for a moment and entering to pay your respects to the artist.

Follow the path towards the end of the main street of the village, keeping to the right where you will see a beaten earth path that will then rejoin the cycle track connecting Giverny to Vernon.

When you arrive at the cycle track, you will have to follow it for a long stretch. Remember to walk on the pedestrian section: the cycle path is very busy!

About halfway along the cycle path, take a left across the street. The route runs all along the Seine. You will no doubt be able to admire the many boats moored on the river bank, until you reach the mill that so inspired Monet and finally the Tourelles Castle.

Admire the beauty of this area of Normandy and take the opportunity to rest for a moment before heading back on the road. Here you will also find a drinking fountain and tables where you can stop for a moment.

Back on the road to return, you will cross the streets of Vernon, passing by the Chimney Path and finally returning to the cycle path that will take you back to Giverny.

Useful information

The route starts at Givenry, where the Monet gardens are located.

There is an entrance fee to the gardens, but consider paying a visit. They are a true masterpiece of floral beauty. A riot of colours that I am sure will impress you.
