The Porto Giunco Tower is without a doubt one of the most magical viewpoints in Sardinia.
From the tower you can admire a breathtaking sunset.
The colors of the sky fit perfectly with those of the sea.

How to get there
Parking for this route is unfortunately charged, but going in the late afternoon you can park comfortably without paying.
We stayed here in the summer of 2023 right at sunset time and had no difficulty finding a spot. In the morning it is, however, very gettanoto being close to the beach.
To get to the parking lot you cross a short dirt but still beaten section: proceed with caution on this piece.

The route
The trail is quite slippery being sandy.
We do not recommend undertaking this trail in flip-flops.
As always, we recommend that you wear suitable shoes to tackle the trails. In this case, tennis shoes are fine.
In general, the trail is not difficult. In some sections you will find short climbs and shrubs.
In many places the road gets very narrow, but don’t worry because it is still a busy section and if you follow our GPX map you will definitely not get lost!
After an initial ascent among the boulders and shrubs you will come to an abandoned house and a large clearing. From this point you will be able to decide whether to descend to a small reserved beach located on the left, otherwise go straight following the road toward the tower.
From here on, the road may seem more isolated as you move further and further away from civilization. As said, don’t worry, just a few more steps and you are sure to meet other hikers like you heading into the sunset!
There are several forks in the second section. Generally speaking you should always keep to the left but we recommend using the GPX map in case of doubt.
After much climbing and a few beads of sweat you will begin to see in the distance the tower looking down on you.
And here we have finally arrived at the Porto Giunco Tower.
From here you will be able to see Porto Giunco beach and Notteri pond.
It is a perfect place for a nice panoramic photo and to capture this magical moment.
Always pay attention because the ledge is not protected.
Tips
We recommend that you do not walk this trail during hot hours since there is no shelter from the sun.
The best time of day to go to the tower is at sunset. It will give you some really crazy shades and colors.
